Your mouth needs to be cleaned regularly, which is why your dentist, Dr. David Mortvedt, strongly encourages keeping up on oral hygiene. However, if you just brush and floss, your oral hygiene routine isn’t as effective as you think it is. There are things you can add to your routine to further help your oral health, and our dental team is more than happy to tell you all about them.

The first thing you should add to your routine is rinsing. Rinsing is a simple and easy task that involves using ADA-approved mouthwash and swishing it for 30 seconds to 1 minute daily. This technique further cleans the smile, helps prevent dental issues, and makes the breath fresh and pristine.

The second thing you should add to your routine is using a tongue scraper. A tongue scraper is a helpful tool that can eliminate mucus and bacteria from the surface of your tongue. With the help of a scraper, you can improve the health of your mouth, freshen your breath, and even improve the sensation of your taste buds.

The third thing you should add to your routine is cleaning your toothbrush. When you’re done brushing, please rinse the bristles with warm water. Then, place the brush upright in an area where it can dry. When the bristles are free of water, you can place a toothbrush cover over them if you desire.
